An Interview with SJBB
Advisory Council Member
Mike Kuehl from Digital Facilities Management, Inc.
by Pam Henshall
How did you begin your career?
I was hired by a printing company in 1996. One of my responsibilities was to develop the company’s Web presence. We quickly realized this is a service we could offer our customers as well. In 2 1/2 years this profit center grew in leaps and bounds for the company. As the printing industry started to shrink in 1998, the owner offered me the opportunity to purchase the Internet division. It was official and in 30 days hung out my shingle.
Our company creates and hosts high end Internet World Wide Web sites. We help customers with any where from small 5 page brochureware sites, to interactive sites with database back ends.
Who is Mike Kuehl?
I was born and raised in New England and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BA in Mathematics with a Minor in Computer Science. I started my career with a Financial Printing company in Center City, Philadelphia as a Programmer/Analyst and grew to the manager of the Information Processing department. In 1996, I moved to Citation Graphics as their IT manager, and was charged with the task of developing the company’s Internet presence.
What was your initial response to the SJBB idea and any advice?
I thought it was an incredible idea that will be *HUGE* There is nothing like this on the net, absolutely brilliant idea.
SJBB is rapidly becoming the definitive resource for Southern New Jersey businesses and consumers to find goods and services. What separates SJBB from the rest is the features that are available to the member. Not only are you getting a business listing, but a venue for you to post your company’s or organization’s events. It is a place where business people can come together. The exposure that it will provide your business will be invaluable.
